BEATRICE, NE — Colt Dittbrenner, Connor Kelley, Conner Freitag and Max Meyer have played a lot of tennis tennis together.

The quartet of Beatrice seniors have been on varsity together since they were sophomores.  They each logged more than 120 hours of tennis over the summer alone.  With experience, comes lofty goals.

“Hopefully to place at state as a team and each individual,” Kelley said.

“(We want to) make some noise for one of the smaller schools,” Dittbrenner said.

Head coach Karen Dittbrenner says it’s been several years since Beatrice Tennis has made an impact in the state tournament.  She says that could change in 2020.

“I look for these kids to do some really good things," Dittbrenner said. "I really see that every one of those four could medal.”

The players and coach all say fans should come out to the newly-surfaced courts at Hannibal Park to watch the team.

“We’re gonna make some noise," Kelley said. "We’re gonna tear stuff up.”

“We’ve worked very hard so I hope we do well," Freitag said. "A lot of hours put in.”

“Put your mask on, come out and watch these kids play because you won’t be disappointed," Karen Dittbrenner said. "These are some good, solid players and we have some good, solid teams coming in and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
