(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State football coaching staff announced the signing of LaKavian Williams of Tallahassee, Fla.
 
The son of Alicia Johnson and nephew of Kevin Hankins will play either at the defensive back or running back position for Peru State. Williams recently graduated from Florida A&M Development Research High School in Tallahassee.

The 6-1, 177 pound Williams was a two-year letter winner. During his career, Williams had 203 total tackles, four sacks, five forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 15 tackles for loss. On the offensive side of the ball, he racked up 245 yards and had two rushing touchdowns. He earned a defensive player of the week honor.
 
Williams will be receiving a TJ Majors scholarship and will be majoring in kinesiology at Peru State.
 
The Peru State football team moved onto campus on Monday and began conditioning on Tuesday. The first official practice will be Saturday, August 15.
