SIDNEY – An Interstate 80 traffic stop on Monday resulted in the arrest of a passenger and charges of criminal impersonation.
A Nebraska state trooper told the court in an arrest affidavit that the front seat passenger, Sterling Bazurto, 21, would not provide identification after he stopped the Toyota Camry for speeding.
An arrest affidavit said Bazurto locked the passenger side door to prevent the trooper from opening it, but the trooper grabbed a partially opened window. The window was broke while the trooper pulled it down.
The trooper said Bazurto gave him a false first name after he was removed from the vehicle and handcuffed.
A $50,000 bond was set in Cheyenne County Court and a hearing set for Aug. 18.
