SIDNEY - Sidney Mayor Roger Gallaway says conversations he's had with residents since Camping World announced their move to Cheyenne County have been "very upbeat."

CEO Marcus Lemonis told attendees at Beans & Steams Monday they would be building a 30,000-40,000 square foot retail store and occupy the old Cabela's Distribution Center buildings for a third party logistics company to help create a distribution center for small businesses.

Gallaway says the opportunity with Camping World is exactly the type of project city officials are constantly seeking out and staying in-touch with.

"To have somebody like him, who comes to town and expresses a desire to be here, is just outstanding," Gallaway said. "After meeting him and talking to him, he comes off - to me - as a very sincere and genuine person. He is who he says he is. We're excited for him to come to Sidney."

Camping World, which has more than 225 locations across the United States, knows the RV business really well, but according to Lemonis, it's the activities people do outside the RV they would like to learn more about.

Gallaway says the company was able to look and realize the type of talented people Sidney has and been very successful with at Cabela's.

"He wants to utilize that and tap into that," Gallaway said. "I think it's going to be a great marriage between the two. We absolutely can find him the kind of people to make that happen."

Lemonis says the plan is to hire 200 people at the retail store, distribution center and within the executive group.

The Sidney store will also include Gander Outdoors, Overton's (water sports) and The House (online ski and snow store). The new store is expected to be open in 2021.
