They’re not releasing any specific numbers but Nebraska Democrats insist a new poll finds State Senator Kate Bolz of Lincoln “within striking distance” of Republican Congressman Jeff Fortenberry.

The state party also says the same poll finds President Trump in a statistical dead heat with Joe Biden in the 1st Congressional District, where Bolz is trying to unseat Fortenberry who was first elected in 2004.

Four years ago Trump won the district over Hillary Clinton by 21 points, 56-35.

According to a statement from the Nebraska Democratic Party, former Vice-President Biden’s strong showing—Trump leads 48-46—is being driven by a 15-point lead for Biden in Lancaster County.

The NDP goes on to say, “Matching—or even approaching—the presidential vote is enough to put this seat in play for down-ballot Democratic candidates across NE-01, including Bolz.”

The Fortenberry campaign has not responded to our request for a comment.
