Missing man, youth tubing on North Platte River found safe
MITCHELL - An adult and kid reported missing while tubing the North Platte River near Mitchell Sunday made it home safe.
Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says the 72-year-old and the boy were reported missing at 8:06 p.m. They started their float down the river at approximately 10:30 a.m. The pair found a ride home and were reported safe at 9:22 p.m.
Fire departments (including the Scottsbluff Fire Department Dive Team), along with Scottsbluff and Gering Police, Nebraska Game and Parks, Nebraska State Patrol, and Park Rangers from Scotts Bluff National Monument, reported to a mobile command post at Riverview Golf Course.
The AirLink helicopter was also asked to fly over the river.
