BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested a Kansas man late Saturday night, after the man said his handgun accidentally discharged, firing a bullet through a glass door at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Conference Center.

Police arrested 25-year-old Taylor Turner, of Great Bend, Kansas, on suspicion of unlawful discharge of a firearm within the city, felony criminal mischief and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

Police said Turner was walking to his motel room when his 38-caliber handgun fired, hitting a glass door entrance to the hotel’s conference center. No one was in that area and the shot did not injure anyone.

Police said Turner, who went to his motel room, was intoxicated when police contacted him.

Damage was estimated between $500 and $1,500. Police were summoned to the north Beatrice hotel at around 10:30, Saturday night.
