SIDNEY - The Guns vs. Hoses traveling trophy will be displayed at the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department for the first time ever.

The Hoses defeated Sidney law enforcement, 11-10, in the third annual Guns vs. Hoses Charity Softball Game on Sunday in Legion Park. The win snaps a two-game win streak for the Guns.

John and Kim Phillips, of the Fox Theatre and The Popkorn Shack, have organized the event all three years. Kim says the event was fun and they raised money for three different charities.

"The Hoses presented donuts to the police officers and they had to play with those in their mouth," Kim said. "The next inning, the Hoses got shot with squirt guns."

The game benefited the Night of Hope and the winning team's favorite charity. A 50/50 raffle was held for Sidney Police Officer Austin Smith and his family, whose home suffered significant damage in a fire on July 20.

The 2021 game is scheduled for June 27.
