Kansas approves fall high school activities

KANSAS — The governing body for high school activities in Kansas will not stop schools from offering activities this fall.
The Kansas State High School Activities Association Executive Board decided Tuesday that fall activities will begin as scheduled. This includes practice and competition.
The KSHSAA says local school districts can still modify start dates based on their local and county health recommendations.
The KSHSAA issued a list of coronavirus risk mitigation strategies to schools last week. It includes having anyone feeling sick stay home, maintaining six-foot distance when possible, wearing face coverings at all times, and showering/changing clothes as soon as possible after an activity. The KSHSAA also issued activity-specific guidelines.
The Kansas announcement is similar to what the Nebraska School Activities Association announced on July 20.
