12-year-old injured in car vs bike accident

OMAHA - A preteen boy is in serious condition after colliding with a pickup while riding his bike.
According to a news release, Omaha police was dispatched to the crash just before 4:00 Monday afternoon.
OPD says an investigation revealed that a group of kids were riding bikes on Boyd when the leader went through the 90th Street intersection under a green light.
As the leader entered the intersection the light turned yellow. A boy following behind was hit by a pickup that was driving perpendicular to the cyclists and had a green light.
The boy was not wearing a helmet, and has been identified as a 12-year-old from Omaha.
He was transported to Bergan Mercy before being transferred to Nebraska Medicine.
He is being treated for critical head and chest injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
