Ricky Broxson to serve as Peru State Softball Assistant
Peru State recently announced the hiring of Ricky Broxson as the Bobcats' new assistant softball coach.

(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State head softball coach J.L. Thomason recently announced the hiring of Ricky Broxson as the Bobcats' new assistant softball coach.
Broxson served as a student assistant during the 2019-20 season and replaces Whitley Albury who will be returning to the classroom in the fall in Lexington.
Thomason noted, "I am very excited to have Coach Broxson join the softball coaching staff as our full time assistant. He brings a vast knowledge to the position that can help us improve in many areas on and off the field. He has shown that he is a passionate recruiter and can really connect with incoming athletes."
A May 2020 graduate of Peru State with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, Broxson had been a two-year member of the Bobcat baseball team. He had transferred to Peru State from Enterprise State Community College after graduating there in 2017.
The native of Panama City, Fla., is already started on the job and is ready to get going. Broxson stated, "I am excited for my new role in the program. I enjoy this program and feel big things are coming. Working with the JV program as their lead coach will be a role that I take pride in. I enjoy teaching the game and helping the ladies reach their max potential. I am thrilled Coach Thomason has granted me this amazing opportunity."
At the present time, Peru State will still have a junior varsity schedule for the fall. They are scheduled to start the fall season on Saturday, Sept. 12, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as the Bobcats will face Iowa Western Community College in a double header beginning at 1 p.m.
