LINCOLN - Severe storms moved through the Lincoln area during the late night hours and early into Thursday morning.

In Lincoln...the heavy winds and rain caused damage around the Capital City, with downed trees, limbs and power lines.

More than 5,000 Lincoln Electric customers were without power at one point. That number was down to just over 500 by mid-morning.

Southeast Nebraska was spared any of the multiple tornadoes that were reported in Nebraska Wednesday, but there were heavy straight-line winds, including an 81-mile per hour wind gust measured in rural Lancaster County.

There were also widespread reports of damaged and downed trees in Thayer, Jefferson...and Johnson Counties.
