After collecting signatures for a year, backers of expanded gambling in Nebraska are facing today's petition filing deadline.

The group, Keep the Money in Nebraska, is working on three ballot initiatives that would amend the Nebraska Constitution to allow casino gambling at licensed horse tracks.

It would also create a tax initiative to give Nebraskans property tax relief and create the Nebraska Gaming Commission.

The pro-gambling folks say Nebraskans shell out over 500 million dollars in border states' casinos every year, costing taxpayers here nearly 100 million dollars.

It takes nearly 122,000 signatures to put the issue on the November ballot.
