SIDNEY, NE - Sidney Public Schools will celebrate the class of 2020 this weekend. Here are the latest details about Sidney's graduation.

According to Sidney High School Principal Chris Arent, graduation will be held outside at Weymouth Field at the High School on Saturday, July 18. This will allow more people to attend the ceremony under new COVID-19 guidance from the state.

Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. In case of inclement weather, graduation will be moved back inside to the Cabela's Athletic Facility.

Graduates will now be given six tickets to give to family or friends to get into the event. Originally, the school was only going to give three tickets per students.

The additional tickets will be given out at the graduation practice on July 17. Family groups will be required to sit together at the ceremony.

The event is still not open to the public. You must have a ticket to get in.

The district requests all graduates, staff and guests wear masks, but it is  not required. Temperatures will be taken at the entrance to the stadium.

Anyone planning to attend is asked to monitor their health and to not attend if they feel sick. The graduation will be live streamed on SRTV for those unable to attend.

Arent says plans could change if new guidelines are issued. The district will keep graduates and families updated of any changes.
