Nebraska men's basketball coach Fred Hoiberg released a statement on Wednesday saying that his team will not participate in basketball activities on November 3rd so that players may vote if they choose to do so.
Hoiberg said, "In order to help create positive change in our communities, Nebraska basketball will use election day as an off day from basketball related activities." He went on to say, "We will encourage our athletes to register and use their right to vote so that their voices can be heard."
THe Huskers are not the first program to announce plans to step away from games and practices on election day in order to allow it's student-athletes to vote.
