YORK - Area residents once again have an outlet to work on their physical fitness.
The York Community Center has reopened its doors this week after being closed for more than two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the reopening, the staff has new measures in place to ensure the safety of everybody who comes to the center.
"When they arrive we're taking temperatures, making sure everybody is safe to enter the building. They sign their name, phone number, their time in and out of the building," Recreation Coordinator Michaela Stuhr explained. "We have extra staff on hand all day. We have somebody sanitizing equipment, door handles, everything like that, during all of our open hours."
The weight room, indoor pool and basketball court will be limited to 25 people at a time while the racquetball court can have four people at a time.
Most of the center's programming has been canceled for June, but Stuhr says registration is open for July activities.
The center is open from 6 AM to 7 PM Monday through Friday and from 12 PM to 5 PM on Saturday.
