BEATRICE - A severe thunderstorm warning was issued late Wednesday night for the Beatrice area.....a storm that carried strong wind gusts but did little, if any damage.   The storm dropped just over a half-inch of rain in Beatrice.  The initial warning came just after 10 p.m., and was extended as late as midnight.

The warning was issued for southern parts of Jefferson and Gage Counties, followed by a significant weather advisory for all or parts of eight southeast Nebraska Counties.  Severe thunderstorm warnings were also issued for all or parts of seven northeast Kansas Counties.

Cortland, in northern Gage County, was without electric power for a period of time.

Elsewhere, there was some minor thunderstorm wind damage reported at Alexandria, Nebraska and near Deshler.  Thayer County Emergency Management reported a couple of large tree limbs were downed on Main Street in Alexandria.

A thunderstorm wind gust of 79-miles-per-hour was reported at York, while a gust hit 78 miles-per-hour at nearby Waco.  Winds topped 60-miles-per-hour in Lincoln and Denton.

The National Weather Service received a report of a tornado, or possible land spout, five miles northwest of Edmond Kansas....in the north-central part of the state.  Officials say it’s possible there was a brief, 30-second touchdown.
