Columbus Fire Chief says new station is a 'blessing'
The Columbus Fire Department finally has its new headquarters.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus Fire Department finally has its new headquarters.
The department held an opening and dedication for its brand new station on Sunday near 46th Avenue and Howard Boulevard.
Chief Dan Miller said his department had its first full day of operations at the facility Monday.
He said seeing finished product is very rewarding.
“We’ve been in the process of creating this for two-and-a-half years," he said. "To see the employees work in a safer environment, have a more healthy work environment, that’s a blessing to me.”
Miller said the new station is also located in an area closer to where his department gets the bulk of its calls, as well the high school and hospital.
News Channel Nebraska will have more on this story later this week.
