Sidney man arrested, charged with felony after police called to assault in progress
A Sidney man is in jail after being arrested and charged with two counts of a felony following an incident in Sidney Friday morning.
Court documents show that 32-year-old Keeran Miles was arraigned Tuesday. He is facing two counts of felony terroristic threats and a count of 3rd degree domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit, authorities were called to an assault in progress along 10th Avenue in Sidney on Friday morning. Both the Sidney Police Department and Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office responded. When they arrived, police found Miles and a woman.
Both Miles and the woman told police they had an argument. According to the affidavit, Miles told police he "flinched" at the woman, but never hit her.
The person who called the police about the incident told officers they saw Miles throw a punch at the woman, but she ducked and Miles missed. They told police they believed Miles would have struck her had she not ducked, according to court documents.
After learning this, authorities arrested Miles for 3rd Degree Domestic Assault.
Miles also threatened two of the officers while being transported to and booked at the jail. According to the affidavit, he told one of the officers the next time he saw them, he would have a gun and would shoot the officer in the face. Both a Sidney Police Officer and Cheyenne County Sheriff's Deputy were threatened.
As a result, two counts of felony terroristic threats were added to Miles' charges.
Miles' preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 8th.
