Life Care Center of Elkhorn Reports a 7th Death

For the second straight day a Douglas County long-term care facility is reporting another resident death and additional positive cases of COVID-19.
As News Channel Nebraska has been reporting Life Care Center of Elkhorn has been the site of a major outbreak of the virus starting April 27.
Prior to that, over the last two years, the facility has been graded below average by federal inspectors and placed on probation twice by state inspectors.
The latest death brings the facility's total to seven.
Life Care also reports four more cases of COVID-19, three residents and one staffer.
All told 60 residents have tested positive along with 28 employees.
According to a statement from the company, they have enough staff to care for the 60 remaining residents.
The statement goes on to say that if a family chooses they may remove their loved ones and care for them at home or place them in another facility.
