LINCOLN - In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic Nebraska's primary election was a historic one.

According to Secretary of State Bob Evnen, more than 471,000 Nebraskans voted in the primary, breaking the state's previous primary election record of 413,015 set in 1972.

Evnen says that more than 375,000 Nebraskans, or 80-percent of the ballots were either mailed in or dropped off early, and that 20-percent were cast at polling sites on election day.

Typically 75-percent of ballots are cast at polls and 25-percent are submitted early.
