Schuyler city officials communicate need to keep COVID-19 cases down

SCHUYLER - As more directed health measures get relaxed, an eastern Nebraska town is stressing the importance of staying safe.
Officials with the City of Schuyler issued a statement Saturday outlining the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases in Colfax County.
Along with the familiar calls to wash hands for 20 seconds and sanitize surfaces, the message urges residents to continue to practice social distancing. City officials stress that everyone should be wearing a cloth cover when they go out in public, and should always go to the store alone.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, Colfax County has seen 391 positive cases of COVID-19 as of Friday. Over half of the county's residents tested have come back positive for the coronavirus.
Schuyler's Cargill meat-packing plant shut down this past week, with the hopes of reopening on May 18th.
