LYNCH, Neb. KNOP-TV The Lynch Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

The Boyd County Sheriff's Office says first-responders were called to an accident Thursday morning involving a skid-loader at Butte Implement.

The Boyd County Sheriff's Office and Boyd County Ambulance found Cody F. Svatos, of Lynch, had died from his injuries.

Svatos was employed there. He was 28-years-old.

Butte Implement will be closed through May 11.

The Lynch Volunteer Fire Department says Svatos was a firefighter for their department for seven years. He is remembered as "one of the finest."

Fire crews wrote the following on their Facebook page:

"Cody (Badger) was one of the finest firefighters any department could ask for. He was very well trained, always going to state fire school, and training locally every chance he got. Badger was the mechanic of our department, always working on the trucks late at nights, days, and weekends, making sure all the trucks were ready to roll when the call came out.

We know in heaven you’ll find an old firetruck to work on so when we meet again, we’ll be ready to roll.

Until then, RIP our forever brother, we’ll take it from here."

The Boyd County Sheriff's Office offers their condolences to Cody's family, friends and to all who knew him.
