T-Bone Truck Stop in Columbus seeing 'insane' gas prices
COLUMBUS - How low have pump prices been at T-Bone Truck Stop in Columbus?
Store manager Nikki Lehr said lately, their average prices have been below $1.20 per gallon. She said that’s down from when it was more than $2 prior to the pandemic.
“It’s been insane," Lehr said. "I’ve never seen anything like this and I’ve worked here like seven years.”
Lehr said one day a couple weeks ago, they were selling gas for 99 cents per gallon.
“We were actually going to do it for the full weekend and we ran out of the gas in one day," she said. "That was kind of unexpected. We’ve never had that happen before, but we literally had cars lined up to the highway.”
T-Bone said with the diving costs of fuel, business at their pumps and for their fuel delivery has shot up. However, they said it hasn't really impacted their revenues.
“Just because when the price is dropping, we’re dropping our price too,” Lehr said.
With Monday's news about the price of oil being in the negative, she said it's unpredictable exactly how it will impact the cost at the pump.
“They’re definitely going down," Lehr said. "Last month, they were so low, we didn’t think they’d go any lower and they did. Then they would go back up and so we’re like, ‘okay, it’s over with, we’re going to go back to normal.’ It’s just been this up-and-down wave.”
As if folks needed more encouragement to hit the pumps, T-Bone said they'll be going back to 99 cents per gallon for super unleaded gas this Saturday and Sunday.
