FAIRBURY- It was a night of honking, waving, popcorn, and takeout food Saturday night in Fairbury as the community held a back to the bricks community cruise night. Over 100 classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles packed the square and cruised around waving at their neighbors from the safety of their vehicles.

Several of Fairbury's restaurants ran take out specials and the Bonham Theatre had drive up popcorn. Ol' Red 99-5 took requests from cruisers and was playing everything from their regular play-list to the Beach Boys and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Katie Schoenrock, one of the organizers of the event, was pleased with the turnout and said they are planning to have one every Saturday night to help out their local restaurants. “I think we had a great turn out overall! It was nice to see smiling faces and restaurants booming with business! Going forward in the following weekends, please remember to practice social distancing so we can continue to have a good time!”

Surrounding communities like Hanover, Chester, and Beatrice had cruise nights on Saturday as well.
