SIDNEY - Three to six inches of snow remains in the forecast for the Sidney region on Thursday, according to weather officials.

A winter storm warning continues until 6 p.m. Thursday for Cheyenne, Kimball, Banner, Scotts Bluff, Morrill, Garden, Deuel, Keith and Arthur Counties in Nebraska. Laramie and Goshen Counties in Wyoming are also included in the warning.

Weatherology Meteorologist Emily Chipman says snow will stick around for a good chunk of the day before tapering off around midnight.

"We still got this low pressure system that's going to keep working its way through Wyoming," Chipman said. "It looks like it's going to travel east along the Nebraska-Kansas border. It'll keep moving off to the east, but it will still keep the snow for most of the day into the first half of tonight, before it starts trailing off after midnight. Then we'll see some dry condition and sunshine return to the area for tomorrow."

Northwest winds up to 35 MPH will create areas of drifting and blowing snow. The National Weather Service advises travel could become difficult to impossible in areas Thursday evening through Friday morning. They say to plan for travel delays and snow covered roads.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. for northeast Colorado and the northern Nebraska panhandle.

Temperature on Friday are expected to be in the upper 40s. Over the weekend they'll be near 60.
