Sahuarita's Gracie Mejia Signs to play for Peru State Softball
Bobcat softball head coach J.L. Thomason recently announced the signing of Gracie Mejia of Sahuarita High School for the 2020-21 school year.

(Peru, Neb.) – Bobcat softball head coach J.L. Thomason recently announced the signing of Gracie Mejia of Sahuarita High School for the 2020-21 school year.
A pitcher and utility position, Mejia is the daughter of Adam and Sonia Mejia of Green Valley, Ariz..
Her Sahuarita team won the 2018 Arizona State softball 3A championship when they finished with a perfect 4-0 at the state tournament. The Mustangs finished the season with an overall record of 30-9.
Mejia batted .391 during her senior year at Sahuarita. During her junior year pitching campaign, she had 14 wins with six of those wins being shutouts. She also had one no hitter in 2018 as well.
She was the freshman of the year and also earned two pitcher of the year awards as well.
Mejia was a part of the All-Southern Arizona team in 2017-2019, and also part of the AIA All-Region team also coming in 2017-2019. She was also selected as a Southern Arizona All-Decade team.
She participated in the Sothern Arizona Kino Softball All-Star game.
Mejia has the fourth fewest walks in Sahuarita High School history and has the sixth most wins all-time Sahuarita High School history.
The future Bobcat softball player plans to major in psychology while at Peru State.
Thomason commented, "Gracie has the ability to fill many roles for us. She is a strong hitter who can hit for power and contract. At second base, Gracie shows she can cover a wide range of the field."
Concluding, Thomason added, "Gracie has good command of her pitches and spins the ball well."
