GRAND ISLAND - The virus may be shutting down a lot of places, but the Salvation Army in Grand Island is not one of them.

Shelter monitor Robert Holbrook said they'll be serving Easter meals on Sunday.  He said the food will be provided by Project Hunger and that Salvation Army will be serving it in to-go packages as a precaution against spreading the coronavirus.

Holbrook said they will serve anyone who shows up, regardless of income or living situation.

“We don’t turn nobody away," he said.  "God don’t want nobody to go hungry, so we’re providing meals for anybody that’s willing to come up here.  Come up here and we provide.”

Salvation Army will serve the meals at 5 p.m. at their location at North Eddy and West 3rd streets.
