GRAND ISLAND - Some may be curious about what it's like to be tested for COVID-19.

News Channel Nebraska spoke with someone who's been through it.  Physician Dr. Alberto Solache said on Wednesday, he got tested at the National Guard site in Grand Island.

Solache said he was exposed to a possible coronavirus case and started having symptoms, so he's been self-quarantining while he waits for his results.

He said anyone who meets the criteria for testing will go to the National Guard site, where personnel will meet them at their vehicle and swab them.

“It goes in your nose all the way to the back of your pharynx and they tickle you for about — tickle is kind of a loose term of the word — for 15 seconds," Solache said.  "It’s very uncomfortable, it makes you sneeze, makes you gag a little bit and, you know, I wouldn’t want to repeat that.”

Solache said the procedure is not painful and that there's nothing to fear.

He said anyone with questions or concerns should contact their primary care physician, or visit the CDC or local health department websites.
