ELWOOD, Neb. (KNOP-TV) - Volunteers from four rural fire departments spent about three hours battling a prairie grass wildfire north of Elwood on Tuesday.

Departments from Elwood, Lexington, Cambridge and Bertrand battled the fire for about three hours, four miles north of Elwood in Gosper County.

The Elwood Fire Department says the fire was ignited by construction being done on the culverts being put in on Highway 283.
