GRAND ISLAND - A beef plant in Central Nebraska is continuing to operate, despite 10 employees testing positive for Covid-19.

Grand Island officials addressed the community Friday afternoon, announcing that the JBS plant in town has seen 10 confirmed COVID-19 cases in its workers.

Still, the plant will stay open, as it is considered essential.

During the same update, Central District Health Department Director Teresa Anderson announced that the virus has also affected health workers in 3 different nursing homes in Grand Island. Those employees are all home in quarantine now, but the department is concerned about who they came in contact with before being tested.
