BEATRICE – Two Beatrice Fire and Rescue units were sent to a one-vehicle accident last night, just southwest of Holmesville.

According to Southeast Communications Dispatch traffic, a passerby came upon the accident, just south of the intersection of South 10th and East Maple Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, rescue personnel reported three people were outside the vehicle….one of them, a pregnant woman.  Beatrice Fire Captain Craig Fisher says one person was taken directly to Bryan Health West in Lincoln, as a precaution.  A second occupant was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital, and the third person was not transported for treatment.

Gage County Sheriff’s Officers say the driver of the vehicle was 19-year-old Destinie Thomas, of Manhattan, Kansas.  She was traveling south on South 10th Road when she lost control of her vehicle, and it slid into the east ditch, hitting an embankment.

The vehicle rolled several times, ejecting a front-seat passenger.  The driver and another passenger were restrained.   None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.   The Nebraska State Patrol assisted at the accident scene.

The call reporting the accident came in just after 7:30 p.m.
