NATIONWIDE - With the coronavirus in full swing, the Pentagon says it has yet to ship 2,000 ventilators that it committed to transferring.

The Pentagon's top logistics official says that's because FEMA and The Department of Health and Human Services haven't asked for them or given a shipping location.

Civilian authorities must give the order on where to send the badly needed equipment before it can be shipped.

According to Lieutenant General Giovanni Tuck, HHS said to wait while they examined the demand that is required.

Tuck says 1,000 ventilators are ready to go as soon as a destination is specified.

The other 1,000 can be assembled and shipped within days of getting an order.

HHS says many of the DOD ventilators require special training.

Those in HHS' strategic national stockpile, however, are better suited for immediate use.
