LINCOLN - There's a new website designed to help Nebraska businesses stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NebraskaBuyLocal.com lets Nebraska Businesses sell gift cards with one hundred percent of proceeds going back to the business.

Lincoln Independent Business Association President Bud Synhorst says the goal of NebraskaBuyLocal.com is to help businesses with cashflow while also encouraging Nebraskans to shop local.

"We want any Nebraska business to get on there, sign their business up, and offer gift cards. And also, it's a great way for us to support our community."

So far nearly 100 businesses have already signed up since its launch last Friday.

"At this point, a couple-hundred bucks could be the difference between staying open and closing a business."

The website's launch is a collaborative effort between Sandhills Global, the Lincoln Independent Business Association (LIBA), and the Nebraska Retail Federation (NRF).
