GERING, Neb. The Scotts Bluff National Monument’s renovation received its final inspection and it went very well.

There were no unexpected surprises and only a few things on the punch list to get finished.

The new renovated building will include a new entrance to the east of the old entrance, new information desk with a larger space, the Jackson Theater will include the park movie and artwork, a new exhibits area and an amphitheater to watch the film.

This project continues to be on time and on budget.

In the spring when the weather gets better, they will paint the outside and do more concrete work.

This work is scheduled for April or May.

“It’s kind of one of those surreal things,” said Dan Morford, Superintendent. “It’s taken a lot of planning and a lot of time. To see the actual building, see the insides and getting those last few things done that we need to get the visitors in, it’s really a great accomplishment.”
