Former Mullen coach passes away after battle with brain cancer

MULLEN, Neb. (KNOP) - News 2 learned Monday of the passing of former Mullen coach Rusty Moore. The Mullen Activities Director, Chris Kuncl, confirmed Monday night.

Moore was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018, and was undergoing treatment.

There is no word on funeral arrangements at this time.

During the two year battle with cancer, Mullen fans and people from the region rallied around the coach with special shirts that said "Rally for Rusty" and signs of support.

Moore led the Mullen boys' basketball team to its first ever State title in 2017.
