SCC cruises past NPCC to win season finale

BEATRICE, NE - The Southeast Community College women's basketball scored 28 points in the second quarter and held of North Platte Community College for a 76-65 win on Saturday.
The two teams will get a rematch on Tuesday for the first round of the Region IX tournament.
SCC (9-21) shut down NPCC (10-20) with solid defense. The Knights shot just 25 percent from the field in the first quarter. The Storm were particularly good at slowing down NPCC's top scorers. Emily Joseph missed her first 10 shots and Ashley Hassett was saddled with foul trouble the whole game.
The Storm broke the game open in the second quarter. Allison McMahon scored 12 points in the frame to propel SCC to a 17-point lead at halftime.
The Knights played the Storm even in the third quarter and outscored SCC by six in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough to complete a comeback.
