Less talked about is water tax relief, but that's also in play in Lincoln this year because you may not know it but the State of Nebraska taxes water twice.
Charging sales tax on pipes and sewers on the front end and sales tax on business and residential water bills on the back end.
That front end is on pipes and sewers, the back end is on business and residential water bills.
Legislation climbing its way through the Legislature would return some of those tax dollars to the cities and towns they come from, and then maybe, just maybe back to the consumers.
With different plans still in the works in the Legislature, turning back those sales taxes would cost the state between 3 million and 62 million dollars over the next 4 years alone.
