Norfolk Sending Ten Wrestlers To State Tournament

The Norfolk Panthers will be sending ten wrestlers to the State Tournament following Saturday's Class A-3 district meet.

PAPILLION - The Norfolk Panthers will be sending ten wrestlers to the State Tournament following Saturday's Class A-3 district meet.

The meet was held at Papillion-La Vista High School, and all but four of the wrestlers who competed for Norfolk on Saturday qualified for the State Tournament. The State meet will begin on Thursday, February 20th at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.

Norfolk's qualifiers, as well as where they finished on Saturday, are as follows:

- Freshman Calvin Empkey, 4th at 113

- Junior Weston Godfrey, 2nd at 126

- Senior Aaron Dittmer, 3rd at 132

- Freshman Jacob Licking, 2nd at 145

- Junior Joshua Licking, 2nd at 152

- Senior Brayden Splater, 2nd at 160

- Sophomore Austin Miller, 2nd at 170

- Junior Hunter Mangelsen, 3rd at 182

- Senior Laikon Ames, 3rd at 195

- Sophomore Brayden Heffner, 2nd at 220

Norfolk finished in fourth place with 148 points as a team, and the meet was won by the Columbus Discoverers with 179 team points.
