COLUMBUS - Residents in Columbus may have noticed that activity over the police scanner has gone silent.
CPD said that's because it had switched over to an encrypted channel a couple weeks ago.
A police spokesman said their department was testing the system. They said they'll be switching back to an open channel soon, with the exception of when they handle sensitive cases.
