COLUMBUS - A traffic stop in Columbus has led to a drug bust, with several people in custody.

It happened Monday near 21st Street and 28th Avenue.

Columbus police said they saw a vehicle make a turn without using a signal and initiated a traffic stop, during which time they said officers saw someone in the vehicle throw something out the window.

CPD said during the stop, officers found the driver, 29-year-old Irvin Alvarez, was driving on a suspended license.  They said they smelled marijuana on Alvarez while they were arresting him and found several small plastic bags and a grinder on him containing small amounts of marijuana.

A CPD spokesman said a vehicle search turned up more small packaging baggies, several containers with small amounts of suspected meth and two digital scales.

They said officers also recovered the items thrown from the vehicle, which were multiple bags altogether containing around 6 grams of suspected meth.

Alvarez and the two passengers in his vehicle -- 25-year-old Corrine Hein and 30-year-old Brian Reyes -- were all arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession or use of drug paraphernalia.

Alvarez also faces charges of driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.

All three are set to appear in court on Feb. 28.
