Meridian girls, BDS boys advance to CRC tournament semifinals
YORK - The Meridian girls’ basketball team (11-5) is headed to the CRC tournament semifinals after a 35-25 win over Dorchester (9-7) Tuesday night at the York City Auditorium.
Senior Josiee Sobotka led the way with a game-high 23 points. Junior Jacee Zoubek led Dorchester with 14. No. 3 seed Meridian will now face No. 2 seed Exeter-Milligan (10-7) in a semifinal on Thursday night at 6. That game will be broadcast on Ol’ Red 99.5 FM. Meridian beat Exeter-Milligan last Tuesday in Daykin, 41-33.
Meanwhile in the boys’ bracket, Bruning-Davenport/Shickley (9-6) is headed to the CRC semifinals after a convincing 58-27 win over Osceola (9-7) Tuesday.
It was a full team effort, as nine different Eagles scored. Eli Noel led the way with 11 points off the bench. The Eagles had five players score at least eight points, and they finished with 21 bench points in all.
No. 3 seed BDS will now face no. 7 seed Cross County in a Thursday semifinal at 7:30 p.m. That game will also be carried on 99.5 FM. Cross County upset No. 2 seed East Butler, 45-40, on Monday night.

Girls: Cross County 53 East Butler 32. Cross County will face Shelby-Rising City in the first semifinal on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Boys: McCool Junction 64 Exeter-Milligan 38. McCool will take on defending CRC tournament champion Shelby-Rising City in a Thursday semifinal at 4:30 p.m.
