HTRS girls take down Southern for MUDECAS B Division Title

Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer used a 22-point second quarter to move past Southern and win the MUDECAS B Division championship 46-35 on Saturday afternoon.

BEATRICE, NE -- Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer used a 22-point second quarter to move past Southern and win the MUDECAS B Division championship 46-35 on Saturday afternoon.

The #2 seed Titans (8-5) controlled the game from the start.  They overcame eight first-quarter turnovers to own a 9-5 advantage after one period.

HTRS exploded in the second quarter.  The Titans won the period 22-11 to earn a 15-point halftime lead.  HTRS held Southern (11-3) made just seven field goals in the first half.

The turnover trouble returned to HTRS in the third quarter but their defense didn't let the Raiders get back into it.  HTRS led by 12 heading to the fourth.

Kaitlyn Glathar scored almost all the Titans' points down the stretch to hold off Southern and earn the win.  Glathar finihsed with a game-high 17 points on nine made free throws.

HTRS, or any of its previous schools, had never won a MUDECAS girls title before.

HTRS (8-5)......... 9, 22, 5, 10 = 46

Southern (11-3)... 5, 11, 8, 11 = 35
