NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities were dispatched to a hospital emergency room in northeast Nebraska to investigate an assault on Saturday morning.

The Norfolk Police Division said that around 6:39 a.m., they were dispatched to the hospital's ER, and after arriving at the hospital, officers were able to speak to the victim, who, they said, had visible injuries.

NPD said that the victim had marks on her neck, shoulder and a large lump on her head.

Officials said that the victim told officers that earlier that morning she was assaulted by her boyfriend, 26-year-old Brent Janzen of Norfolk.

According to NPD, the victim said that around 5 a.m. she and Janzen were returning home from a party and were arguing.

The victim allegedly told officials that Janzen had pushed her to the ground, got on top of her, and held his hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming for help.

NPD said that the victim said she was able to escape and started banging on the house to get help.

The victim alleges that Janzen caught her and slammed her head into the house and took her to the ground, again getting on top of her, and again holding his hand over her mouth to prevent her from calling for help.

Authorities said that some people came out of the house and Janzen let the victim up.

NPD said that during the investigation, officers went to the location of the assault.

Officials said that officers observed evidence that confirmed the victim's statement. Officers also spoke to a witness that confirmed the argument between the victim and Janzen.

NPD said that after officers spoke to Janzen, he was arrested for third-degree domestic assault.

Janzen was booked into the Norfolk City Jail, and he was later released on bond.
