House fire leaves Grand Island family displaced

GRAND ISLAND - A family has been displaced after a fire broke out in their home Friday morning in Grand Island, which is believed to have started in the area of the stove. The cause is being labeled as "accidental".
According to the Grand Island Fire Department, a call came in around 6:45 a.m. regarding a house fire on West 14th Street.
Heavy smoke and some flames could be seen coming from the home.
Multiple crews from GIFD assisted and were able to have the fire out shortly after arrival.
A family was inside when the fire started but fire officials said they were able to get out safely and the call 911.
No one was injured, but there was extensive smoke damage to the basement and upstairs level of the home.
During the time of the fire police had the intersection of 14th and South Locust closed off for crews.
