COLUMBUS - A Columbus man is accused of embezzling a local business.

Police said 36-year-old Travis Johnson was stealing from his employer by selling inventory items online and keeping the money for himself.

CPD said the case was reported in September, but that the scheme had been happening since July of 2017.  They said the total amount stolen was more than $5,000.

After three months of investigation, police arrested Johnson Tuesday for theft by exercising control.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 22.

CPD is withholding the name of the business he stole from.
