CHAPPELL, NE — For the first time in program history, the Creek Valley Storm matched up with the North Platte St. Patrick's Irish Tuesday night on the basketball court. The girls started the action in Chappell with the Lady Irish getting off to a quick start, leading 17-5 at the end of the first quarter thanks to 15 Creek Valley turnovers. The Lady Storm bounced back in the second, however, with 8 points from senior Catie Koenen to trail by 11 at halftime, 38-17.

Out of the locker room, St. Pat's turned up the defensive pressure again forcing another 10 turnovers alone in the third with the offense also rolling, putting up 31 points in the frame. The large deficit proved to be too much to overcome as Creek Valley fell 74-20 versus the Lady Irish to fall to 1 and 2 on the season.

In the boys meeting, St. Pat's used their pressure defense to force 13 turnovers in the first quarter and jump out to an early 26-10 lead. The Irish continued to roll the remainder of the game on their way to a 81-32 victory. Juniors Justin Ningen and Oakley Hodges led the Storm with 11 points each. Creek Valley will play again Friday night on the road against the Potter-Dix Coyotes.
