GUIDE ROCK - Authorities say a woman was severely injured in an incident with a mule deer buck on a farm in Webster County.

According to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, the woman was doing chores alone near Guide Rock on Tuesday when she apparently was attacked by the mule deer buck.

She was discovered some time later and transported to a Lincoln hospital.

A responding conservation officer, who later shot and killed the deer, said the animal showed no fear of him.

Game and Parks says that deer normally don't approach humans.

The deer was taken to the UNL Veterinary Diagnostic Center, where it tested negative for rabies.

The Commission still is investigating the circumstances of the attack.
