UPDATE: Scottsbluff Elementary School on Lockout due to Police Activity

Scottsbluff authorities are releasing more information on a standoff that caused a local elementary school to go on lockout.

SCOTTSBLUFF - Scottsbluff authorities are releasing more information on a standoff that caused a local elementary school to go on lockout.

Scottsbluff Police say a Gering Police officer went to a home in the 200 block of West 23rd Street in Scottsbluff to follow-up on a theft investigation.

Police say the officer saw a disturbance happening with one of the people inside mentioning a firearm.

Scottsbluff Police and negotiators were then called in.

Negotiators were able to de-escalate the situation which ended with the woman surrendering to police. She was taken to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.

A further investigation is ongoing in the matter.
