OMAHA, NE — A northeast Nebraska man with a history of domestic violence could face more than a decade in prison if convicted on new charges.

44-year-old Bernard Jackson of Walthill was charged in a two-count indictment in U.S. District Court on Thursday.  He is accused of strangulation and domestic assault by a habitual offender.

Court documents say Jackson repeatedly punched a woman and grabbed her by the neck in October.

Jackson has been convicted of various assault charges four times in the last 17 years.  He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years and $500,000 in fines if found guilty of both charges.
